Kick Ass Heavy Metal is a four-song EP of dirty Rock ‘N' Metal from L.A.'s Brute Forcz. The band consists of former pro wrestlers Jammer (bass/vocals) and Slammer (drums) along with guitarist Will Wallner. The music is straightforward Heavy Metal with a Hard Rock bent, very much in the mold of Gun Barrel, Motorhead and the like. Jammer's vocals are more spoken/shouted than sung, which is OK for the style, while the bass and drums are suitable. Guitarist Wallner seems to possess the most musical ability and his solos are excellent. The lyrics are sophomoric, the kind that Gene Simmons and countless Hair Metal bands made millions with back in the day. They can be almost painful at times. Playing this style requires a sense of humor and some of the old photos on their Myspace page seem to indicate Jammer and Slammer don't take themselves too seriously. Kick Ass Heavy Metal offers nothing new but is decent for what it is. |
