Hypersonic's debut full-length Fallen Melodies is as flowery as they come. Drenched in keyboards and synths, with plenty of double kicking to be had, it should come as no surprise that Hypersonic are an Italian band. I can't stress how flowery this is. In comparison it makes Arwen look like Cannibal Corpse. The album kicks off with its finest offering "My Spirit Free" which is debatably worth the price of admission. The melodies are great, and even though the keyboards reek of 80's pop I can't help but bop along with a guilty smile. "A Lovely Creature" is another pretty cool track, again with the tacky synths; I had to clean the cheese from my speakers after listening to this album. For the rest of the show its typical Italian melodic power metal, which as a fan of the style hardly offends but I can guarantee this won't change any minds. If you can't get enough of this sound then Hypersonic are worth checking out, and "My Spirit Free" is a worthy addition to any power metal playlist. |
