Standard thrashy Death Metal from Sweden's Insult is what you will find on their 2008 demo, Axiom. The band members acquit themselves quite well with their playing, sticking to traditional thrash peppered with occasional forays into blast-beat territory. The vocals are an indistinguishable low growl with some demonic screams to keep things from getting overly stale or monotonous. The riffs are good, but you've heard them before. The opener, "Blitzkrieg 666," is the most memorable track probably because you can actually understand the title when it is sung. I also enjoyed the Melechesch-like guitars that can be heard here and there on "Procreation of Perdition." Hardly original but executed well, Insult's Axiom has the added benefit of being short (just over 18 minutes) and as a result never wears out its welcome. Solid. |
