Dawn of Chaos are a savage death metal from the north east of England, which is right out my back door. I had the pleasure of catching these maniacs live recently and their set was a destructive bout of virulent death metal, technically sautéed and some genuine brutality. Couple this with some savagely hilarious stage banter and we have a band ready to unleash apocalypse on the world.

Their 2010 promo serves as a quality way to whet appetites, and I believe their debut is only just around the corner. This release includes two ferocious demo tracks, and two filthy live tracks, dripping all things vile. The performances across this release are quality, with guitarists Ross Oliver and Dan Rochester delivering the twin axe attack, coveting jackhammer-like, filth-encrusted riffage and face-ripping lead guitars. The rhythm section of Ian Finley and Daniel Jones is your classic death metal style set up, with Daniel taking the Alex Webster approach of stomach-rumbling low end attacks and Ian boasting a wide array of techniques, as well as some quality fills. Paul Hartburn delivers vocal duties with intimidating force, his style a low growl that whilst sometimes is undecipherable is ideal for the onslaught of death metal Dawn of Chaos present.

The highlights here are the two demo tracks, with "The Need to Feed" standing out as utmost highlight, reminiscent of Corpsegrinder-era Cannibal Corpse at their best. The live tracks are good here, and the recording is quite good, the inclusion of "Muffocated" was a good choice, and is a personal live favorite. Fans of Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, and Cerebral Effusion are going to want to give Dawn of Chaos a listen, and better still you can grab this promo for free over at their website. No excuse not to listen this, I'd recommend readying the neck brace beforehand. Those UK readers should try and catch these guys live when presented with the chance. Looking forward to the debut!
