Of Rage and War is a cool album of female-fronted, power-tinged Heavy Metal – a good mix of old school Heavy Metal and modern Power Metal, upbeat, catchy and overall just a "feel good" album. Its downside is that Elvenstorm don't really do anything here that hasn't been done a few hundred times before and in that optics, it's "just another good Heavy/Power Metal album". There's nothing particularly offensive here – the vocals are powerful with catchy melodies, though sometimes straining the vocalist's range a bit too much. The music is by-the-numbers and sticks to a safe, proven formula. If you like European-style, "happy" Heavy/Power Metal, you'll probably like this, but then again you most likely have quite a few similar albums in your collection already. |
