This is some mostly slow-paced, dark Black Metal from France. The album has a bit of a doomy vibe without quite getting there, but suffice it to say that it's not exactly uplifting music. The lyrics are sung in French, with the vocalist often using a "semi-clean" style that makes a lot of this stuff decipherable – if you understand French, that is. The album is for the most part slow-paced raw Black Metal, but there are a lot of quieter, less "metallic" passages that are quite melodic; those are strategically placed and the overall result is a well-balanced, varied album. If you're looking for some Black Metal that crushes rather than headbangs, this is not a bad choice. |
