This is not the Doom/NWOBHM band from the UK, but a new band from Uruguay, who on one hand are pretty decent in the instrumental department, but totally generic in the songwriting department. This is very modern Power Metal, with double-bass runs and pumped-up synths intended to sound epic. The music is not bad, though if you have heard any other generic PM band like Gaia Epicus or Olympus Mons you have heard everything this band is trying to do. The only problem here are the awful, flat vocals of frontman Brunno Navarro, who is just terrible. They don't even use multitracking or echoes to try and spruce his voice up, they just left his off-key yelping right there on top of everything, like a rat turd on top of an ice cream cone. The vocal lines are not bad, if not great, but that would be if they were sung by any kind of competent performer, and not this guy, who mangles everything he tries. Painful. |
