This is the second CD from Russian Black/Death bastards Inferius Torment. With a generic name and a generic album title, I was expecting generic music, but happily this band has more going for them than that. On the surface, this is the kind of blasting stuff that Belphegor have been selling for years, but Inferius Torment have a deeper and more solid sense of melody that infuses their riffs from the first blast, and adds a degree of musicality and depth far beyond the simply standard. This band isn’t afraid to slow down and pound on a slower groove for a while, but they aren’t lacking in aggression or speed either. Overall this hits all the notes you’d expect from a band of this type, but they do it with more grace and style than a lot of lesser bands can manage. |
