Usurpress (like a female "usurper" - thus inviting comparison to a band they cannot touch) are a Swedish band playing very Swedish-styled Death Metal. This is very much in the vein of early Entombed recordings, only with a weak guitar sound. Part of that is probably intentional, as they also have a more bass-heavy sound and try to give their sound some space, but it ends up making their riffs sound weak. This isn't bad, but it's not getting me off, I can tell you. |
