So I thought at first that this was another album by the other Wolfthorn - the German one - but no, this is a new band from the UK, and this is actually their debut full-length of blistering BM mayhem. This is billed as Folk/Black, but it really isn't folky at all. They do have a kind of epic sound that recalls maybe Moonsorrow a bit, or Astriaal, though not as technical. Anyway, this is actually pretty good, with powerful riffing, a good guitar sound, and a lot of variety in the songwriting. The vocals are a bit one-dimensional, but otherwise this is more than worth checking out. |
