This is a deeply satisfying album of epic-styled Black Metal from the UK. Nordland are a one-man-band and this was their debut, released last year to criminally little notice. If I had to use one word to sum this up, that word would be: Immortal. Yes. This is pretty much a disc of first-rate Immortal worship, as even the vocals are a dead ringer for Abbath's distinctive croak. That said, this is less percussive and more expansive than Immortal, with a more atmospheric riff-style and a spacious feel to the compositions. Powerful, cold, and gripping. |
