I think this is the first time I've really reviewed a demo made by a kid in his bedroom. Looking at the pic of the one guy in this, I'm pretty sure he's not even out of high school. This "band" was formed this year, and this is billed as an EP but is really just a demo with an extreme DIY ethic. Despite the name and song titles, this is a Spanish kid making this, not someone from Norway - though he plainly wishes he were living in Norway. In 1992. This arrived as a hand-numbered CD-R (oh the potshots I could take at that, classy). It's really rather ridiculous. The music, on the other hand, is strict second-wave Black Metal orthodoxy. It doesn't sound as bad as you would think, and the guitar sound isn't horrible. The songs are all completely derivative, the bass is mixed too loud, the vocals are an unintelligible rasp, and the drums are almost inaudible - also probably a machine. The best thing I can really say about this is that I have certainly heard worse. |
