This is a massive album, clocking in at 84 minutes of NS-themed one-man Black Metal. This guy has cranked out 4 albums in 5 years, some kind of argument to be made for solo bands being more productive I suppose. The recording quality, as well as the songwriting quality on this, are all over the map, giving the impression that this was recorded at a lot of different times and on different equipment. It sounds kvlt as fuck, but otherwise is not that exciting. The riffs are standard, the sound is murky, and the songs don't really go anywhere interesting. The various levels of sound and types of songs break up the momentum and keep this from describing any kind of sustained atmosphere or mood, and the whole thing just kind of drags. Overall, the album feels kind of half-assed and slapdash, as if the guy felt like throwing more tracks on was a better way to go than polishing the few worth keeping. Overlong and uninteresting. |
