I really liked this band's debut, Brace for Impact, which was full of solid, bludgeoning yet melodic Heavy Metal, so once I saw the egregious spelling on their follow up, 2 Big 2 Fail, I was worried. The haze of Aqua-net emanating from the opener, "XTC," did little to allay my fears. Thankfully, the rest of the album, with a few exceptions, settles into a more metallic groove. "Burn the Night" and "We Fall" are classic, speedy 80s Metal a la early Dio while the mid-tempo tracks have the melody of Masterplan's debut crossed with the keyboards and Graham Bonnet-styled vocals of Rainbow's Down to Earth. Low points would be the monotonous bass line of "The One" and the horrible Hair Metal ballad, "Too Big To Fail." Survivor, eat your hearts out.

I applaud the band for not simply trying to recreate the debut. 2 Big 2 Fail is well played and there are some good songs despite the move in a more Hard Rock direction. It is worth checking out by Melodic Metal fans that can look past the highly polished commercial sheen.
