Ninth full-length album from this venerable act from the NYDM scene, and one I have not paid much attention to over the years. Being from the same continuum that produced bands like Suffocation and Immolation, this is unsurprisingly a bit technical, but there is also quite a bit of slower grinding going on here that gives it some space and keeps things interesting. The album opens with an incredibly irritating riff, but afterward this band gets down to business and cranks out almost an hour of bludgeoning, dense Death Metal. This is heavy, visceral, and always intense, but it is rather faceless, and is not likely to really stick with you. |
