I heard some good buzz about this, but it's not as great as I hoped. Ikkadian are a US band blasting out a pretty standard stripe of slightly blackened Death Metal. They are tight as hell, and their riffs and solos are quite a bit more technical than I expected, showing off a degree of depth not entirely common in this genre. The production is strictly so-so. It's dry, so you can hear all the blasty bits, but it's also over-compressed and the vocals are buried under a pile of shitty effects. If you love Behemoth's later works, then you will like this fine, but it's not a revelation. |
