If you mix equal parts of the "attitude over accuracy" riffing style of early Megadeth, the lightning-quick tempos of Nuclear Assault and the punk-infused vocals of Laaz Rockit you'll probably end up with something quite like Lost Society's debut Fast Loud Death. There are no flies on these young Finns other than they sound a lot like those aforementioned bands and while Lost Society stands on the shoulders of giants, they do so proudly. Playing Fast Loud Death is like pulling the starter cord on a chainsaw and opening the throttle all the way. The guitars, drums and vocals spew forth in an endless stream of Thrash aggression. Lost Society mixes plenty of melody in with their staccato delivery so you won't mind the unrelenting barrage. The band doesn't get caught up in the usual political ranting, opting for a more tongue-in-cheek view of life as evidenced by song titles like "Bitch, Out My Way," "Braindead Metalhead" and "Piss Out My Ass." Lost society does a great job paying homage to old school, U.S. Thrash without simply aping the style. Fast Loud Death is a must for all fans of early Thrash. |
