This is one of those one-man bands who are incredibly productive, having existed since 2010 and already listing 3 EPs, 5 Splits, a compilation, and this, the only full-length so far. At over 70 minutes I was kind of dreading this, as I had no idea what to expect. Turns out this is just one step removed from ambient music, as the guitar sound is extremely laid-back and there are a lot of keys and no vocals at all. The recording isn't terrible, though the drum sound is pretty thin. I'm guessing this is all DIY made up in the guy's garage or something, so that's not really surprising. There is a good amount of atmosphere to be found on this disc, and the length actually helps with that, as you can put it on for background and just kind of let it run. But it doesn't have much presence and does not create what I would call excitement. Other bands like Blackagir or Lord Wind do this kind of thing much better, but this isn't bad. |
