This is a pretty interesting slab of progressive extreme music, with elements of death, black, and doom mixed into some somber, almost Agalloch-style segments. There is certainly a lot going on over the four tracks, although I would definitely say the band have a good grasp on their instruments and songwriting, crafting their collective talents well. If there is any one particular element that I think Wall Of The Eyeless go wrong in, it would have to be their clean vocals which I feel need a little work. That aside, Wimfolsfestta is a good release that is sure to appeal to a diverse range of people. Worth checking out if a car crash between later Emperor, earlier Opeth, Katatonia and Woods Of Desolation sounds good to you. |
