Deadlands is a Power/Thrash outfit from Sacramento, CA and Evilution is their debut full-length. Originally released in 2012 by Molten Metal Records, Evilution has gotten a re-release by Germany's Massacre Records. The music is unmistakably American, which means it has more than a hint of "modern" Heavy Metal in the down tuned, 7-sring guitars and the borderline harsh vocals. The lead work is well done, no surprise considering guests Michael Denner, Hank Sherman, Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead contributed solos, and the lyrics are Thrash-standard socio-politically themed. I have to admit this type of stuff does nothing for me, no matter how well it is played, but if you dig Devin Townsend and Metal that leans toward bands like Hatebreed or Soilwork, you may find something to like in Evilution. |
