This band has already changed their name to Architect of Disease, but this was their second release as Iugulatus. Coming from Poland, I expected a certain aggression and evil from this band, and I definitely got it. Iugulatus play heavy, deep-voiced Black/Death with a nice, dirty guitar sound and undistinguished but effective vocals. The riffs are pretty good, and they cram a lot of them into a given song, so this rarely gets repetitive. The songs tend toward longer compositions, but they don't really have the structure for it, and are just long pretty much for the sake of being long. That said, they don't get dull, and Iugulatus present a pummeling, aggressive sound that will keep you interested. I'm not sure how their lineup change and new name have affected their sound, I'll let you know when I get to it. But this is definitely worth checking out. It's not groundbreaking, but it is solidly entertaining. |
