This seems to be the swan song for Canadian prog band Phantom Limb, who packed it in last year shortly after producing this, their second self-released album. At fist I expected this to be some kind of melodic album, but while this is proggy in all the normal ways, the vocals reach a new level of awfulness, mixing in some kind of weak deathgrowl with metalcore-ish shouting and yammering to make for a sound that is just a complete mess. This is percussive and sharp, and there are some good bits of music going on here, but overall this is just a big pile of noise and jittering with yelling on top. |
