Auckland's own kings of blackened (or darkened?) Death Metal, Exordium Mors, have finally come to the point when releasing a debut full-length was just a question of when. The Apotheosis of Death, a 5 or 10 track album (the title track has been divided into six sections, so call it what you will) mercilessly attacks us like Satan on steroids, out for revenge against the entire Christian world. Exordium Mors is like the epitome of all things rooted in evil, sounding tastefully vicious, uncompromisingly vile and unholy and utterly determined to chop off more than a few heads with their extreme Black/Death Metal. Exordium Mors keep things on an extreme level at all times, making good listening for fans of acts like Angelcorpse, Fallen Christ and Melechesh. They even have the guts to cross the boundaries into progressiveness every now and then and they do it with style. The Apotheosis of Death is a brilliantly structured record from these darkened, soul-ripping soldiers, one that will satisfy your need for extreme Black/Death Metal for quite some time. This album is definitely one of the biggest surprises of the year as far as extreme Metal music is concerned! |
