This is billed as Doom/Death but it's more like slow, heavy Death Metal with a touch of doom. The doomy vibe and melodic sense are not that strong here. But, quibbling aside, this is a decent slab of heaviness in the vein of Bolt Thrower or classic Dismember, maybe a whiff of Runemagick along the way. The production is good, the riffs are crushingly heavy, and the songs all sound good individually. The problem is that they all sound a whole lot alike, with virtually identical drumbeats and pacing, so that they really all sound like the same song played over and over, and it gets old really fast. One song by itself sounds killer, but then they just play the same song again and again and this rapidly gets boring. |
