Genius Ultor is a raw Black Metal side project act from members of Poland's Stillborn and Nic Co Boskie Nie Jest Mi Obce (Consider Nothing That Is Divine Alien to Me in English) is the band's second full-length album in four years. Rehearsal level, misanthropic Black Metal with some slight Death Metal overtones is what this is. The overall feel is chaotic at times but there's actually a few captivating atmospheres to be found, mostly due some dark and murderous Death Metal riffs, similar to LA's Sadistic Intent. Add some of the lethal ferocity of Angelcorpse to Genius Ultor's rather primitive, low-fi Black Metal assaults, and you get a clearer picture of this album's relentless content. Genius Ultor don't reinvent the wheel but they do offer some sweet moments of raw, death-reeking Black Metal on this record. And sometimes, that's all you need. |
