Disformed, a 5-piece Finnish death squad made up of soldiers from the very pits of hell, churns out ravenous and ripping Death Metal that spares no one. Experienced musicians that have earned their spurs in other Finnish underground Metal acts (such as Fleshred, Fierce, Gloomy Grim, Soulgrind, etc.) make up Disformed and, it seems obvious, these fellows love 90's Death Metal, especially the Scandinavian scene, which is hardly surprising. The band's debut 3-track affair cherishes the sound that bands like Dismember, Grave, Funebre, Abhorrence/Amorphis, Unleashed and the like, made familiar to the whole world some 20 years ago. Heavy, uncompromisingly brutal, razor-sharp Swedish-tinged old-school Death Metal is what you get from these Finnish lads, performed with such conviction and devotion that it gives you reason to wonder if it was truly recorded in 2014 and not in '92 or '93. Regardless, all three songs pretty much kick-ass. The opener, a song called "The Blood," is one fast paced and ruthless fucker, reminding us of Swedish Death Metal titans Dismember, while the other two songs, "The Purge" and "The Enemy," count more on the downright heavy and crushing tempos and eerie atmospheres that Entombed were the true masters of, back in the day. There is nothing more that needs to be said about Disformed except you should definitely check this Finnish bunch out if old school, Swedish-tinged Death Metal calls to you. Enjoyable Death Metal is guaranteed with these guys. |
