This is the debut from Temple of Void, a Death Metal band from the epicenter of collapsing civilization known as Detroit. This is a very young band, who only formed in 2013 and already get this disc out. I was skeptical, but this is a solid disc. Temple of Void play a very heavy, doomy stripe of Death Metal that owes a lot more to the classic Swedish sound than anything like the often-technical US scene. I was reminded more than a little of Swede bands like Paganizer or Dismember. The production is a bit less punchy than I would like, but it has a nice analog sound and sounds suitably heavy. If you like old-fashioned Death Metal, this is a band worth checking out. |
