Chile has always had a tradition of great underground extreme Metal (Black, Death, Thrash, etc.) so it's no wonder one is able to make nice discoveries from the Chilean underground Metal scene weekly or even daily. Inferis is one of those underground Metal forces from the Chilean scene that recently blew my head off, metaphorically speaking at least. Inferis sound technical, unorthodox and tricky, yet extremely brutal and heavy at the same time. They have an extraordinary ability to mix the best of evil Death Metal, like the Brazilian death commandos Abhorrence, with US satanic Death Metal like Fallen Christ, and they push the envelope just enough to not rip off any one band so badly that it would make us hate and loathe them from the very bottom of our hearts. The true pedigree of Obscure Rituals of Death and Destruction lies in the darkest and most violent form of Death Metal. Inferis sound fierce, mean and real which makes it easy to like their all-piercing, sonic Death Metal assault on this second album of theirs. This stuff obviously isn't meant for everyone but undoubtedly many extreme Metal maniacs will go crazy for this Chilean Death Metal act and that includes me right at the front line. Some true punishing and ear-piercing stuff here. |
