Vive la cryptic filthiness, vive la overly lengthy extreme Metal releases. Yep, I have one here from French Death Metal outfit Morgon. Their debut album contains 13 of over 73 minutes of "cryptic and darkened" Death Metal and honestly that is a bit too much. Musically, Morgon are okay. Their primitive, distorted and, at times, chaotic and amateurish sounding underground Death Metal must have been ripened 6 feet under (at least) and I must admit it sounds tempting but only in small doses. A mix of the demo days of Ohio's Necrophagia with Hellhammer will give you Necrokvlt Archeochaosphere. But c'mon, it's very difficult to truly enjoy this disc in one session because it is 73 goddamn minutes long. They should have cut this material in half for two separate albums. It would have been better for both the band and, most importantly, us. Yeah, Morgon are extreme Metal to the bone and even kvlt and I am probably a fucking wimp and poser for not really getting this stuff. At least I am done with this disc for good now; what a relief! Thanks. Adios. Next... |
