Premortal Breath hail from Mannheim, Germany and They is their debut album, one they have self-released. Straight-up Heavy Metal with few frills is the style and it is accented by angry, half-sung/half-shouted vocals and thrashy riffing. The songwriting and the angst audible in the vocals combine to give Premortal Breath's music a modern flavor though it only occasionally sounds "nu" or "core" and even then only slightly, but it is there. The Thrash influence can also be heard in some of the lyrics as some of the song titles, like "Fuck My Brain" and "Bloody Baby Shower," make apparent. There's nothing overly memorable about They and the modern flashes are a little annoying but if you like A Tortured Soul and similar bands Premortal Breath might be one to keep your eye on. |
