I have been following the worldwide underground Metal scene for over three decades and there are a couple of scenes that have impressed me over the last 3-5 years or so, especially when it comes to Death Metal. Both the German and Chilean scenes have produced some of the hottest current Death Metal acts and there's no point in name dropping. Hands down, these two countries simply rule Death Metal these days and Trimegisto, which started out 15 years ago, has become one of my favorite acts out of Chile.

Trimegisto's 3-song EP titled Lustful Filth Bearer, obviously meant primarily for promotional purposes, follows the traditions of murky and evil Chilean Death Metal. Somehow it's The Chasm's name that pops up almost immediately when spinning this 3-track effort but names like Sadistic Intent or Immolation seem to follow right after. The title track, "Lustful Filth Bearer", has a nice Sadistic Intent/Immolation twist to it. The next song, "Ogre of Arrogance", gets even more progressive and unorthodox in the good, old Demilich way. Yep, you got that right. Tune your ears carefully right after the 2:33 mark and it's definitely Demilich's name that comes to the surface. The last song, "Never Christ - Always Dead", is a live track (taken off their 2008 debut album, Subterranean Streams) and it's naturally a bit more straightforward compared to the two new songs. Nevertheless, it's true, obscure Death Metal at its best in my sincere opinion.

Lustful Filth Bearer is just one example of quality Chilean Death Metal proving once again that country's Death Metal pillars seem to be reaching higher than in many other countries (p.s. Slipknot is not Death Metal as some of you MTV-ridden kiddos mistakenly think).
