Jaded Star is a new collaboration between a couple of former Visions of Atlantis members, vocalist Maxi Nil and drummer Raphael Saini. Their debut, Memories from the Future, is not the Symphonic release you might expect given the pedigree of the driving forces but rather a more traditional Heavy Metal album. Nil has a wonderful voice that is full of emotion and the talent level of all the musicians is high. The songwriting is straightforward and with Nil at the microphone the songs sound similar to Triosphere but with a Gothic touch. They aren't particularly memorable and I can't come up with any standouts and I found the ballads a little too tame. Memories of the Future is a solid but a somewhat unremarkable release.
