The Chilean hit men are on the loose again. Well, we have a hungry bunch of Chilean maniacs here that love death and Metal, at least. Deathbed comes from Santiago, Chile, which seems to be the central point for Chilean Death Metal bands these days. Old school and progressive Death Metal is what Deathbed churns out from their dark catacombs. If one particular band is a clear comparison to Deathbed that band would undoubtedly be Death, their later, more progressive era. The Deathbed fellows love Death, that's obvious, but their songwriting pencils are nowhere near as sharp as Chuck's though they can still write pretty tasty and striking riffs. "Hate" has a relatively amazing structure and is a progressive steamroller that clearly obeys Chuck Schuldiner's visionary approach on the last three or four Death albums. Deathbed obviously brings some comfort to those who adore Chuck's work on Individual... or Symbolic or The Sound.... That should enough for you to make a decision on whether Running Out of Life should be a part of your collection. |
