It's been a while since I reviewed a Motörhead album, so it was time to do something about that. Lemmy may have had some health issues lately that caused the band to interrupt and cancel shows, but you'd never know that the man shows any signs of slowing down when you listen to Bad Magic. Unlike a couple of the past few albums, there's nothing that feels like a filler here and in fact there are quite of a few speedsters in there, such as "Electricity" (also the first video off the album.) Lemmy's voice sounds great on all songs and while the music has long lost most of the dirty vibe of the band's earlier times, it's still catchy and makes you reach for the air guitar and air drums, or both (now there's a sight...) Fun from start to finish. The album ends with a good cover of the Rolling Stones' "Symphony for the Devil" – I'll let fans of that band judge, but suffice it to say I like it and it makes a good album closer.
Lemmy turns 70 this year and hopefully his health problems were just a bump on the road. One just can't get enough Motörhead. For now, this is the band's best album in years.
