Exmortus keep plugging away. Fourth full-length for them, and as I recall not being blown away by their last one, Slave to the Sword, I am not surprised to be underwhelmed by their latest. This band seems to be doing what they want to do – technical, deathy Thrash – but they just don't ever let it rip. Their riffs are melodic, fiddly, and bouncy. The music has a lot of texture, but not enough ferocity, and the one-note vocals do not help either the melodic stylings nor the aggression. This is fun, and if you like stuff like Skeletonwitch then this is worth hearing, but Exmortus are just not first-rate.
