Tears of the Ages is album #2 from Poland's Divine Weep and band that apparently started out playing Black Metal but is now a Heavy/Power outfit. The songs on this album are aggressively average. The guitars have a nice tone but the riffs never coalesce into anything memorable while the vocals, a solid shout/scream, slide around sometimes hitting the mark, other times falling flat. There's kind of a U.S. Metal vibe in the vein of Jag Panzer or Malice running through Tears of the Ages though nothing approaching the quality of those bands. I don't hate Divine Weep or anything on Tears of the Ages but I don't hear anything here that would make me want to recommend anyone go out of their way to find it. |
