Have not heard from this band since their 2012 EP Iron Will, though it seems they put out an album in 2013 and I just missed it somehow. Ah well, it is just not possible for me to keep up with everything. I remember liking their EP, and now with their second full-length I find Ravensire really growing into a good band. This is more of the upbeat, crunchy metal they made on their debut, only the songwriting is more refined and varied, and the riffs and songs are better than they were before. Bassist/Vocalist Rick Thor – formerly of Ironsword – has his limits as a singer, but the music relies on his rough, aggressive tone and does not try to pull off things he can't handle. If you like stuff like Ironsword, Gatekeeper, or Hyborian Steel, then this is a band you should like. |
