California's Hellhound is an 80s band, long inactive but now resurrected and Nothing Left is an album full of material spanning three decades. Power Metal-tinged Thrash is Hellhound's style, similar to Helstar and Vicious Rumors. The riffs are crisp and melodic and the vocals have a good dose of grit. The songwriting is average throughout Nothing Left and no song does much to make itself memorable, resulting in yet another album that's entertaining enough when it is on but ultimately generic. There's some talent on display but Hellhound is going to have to dial up the songwriting if they want to rise above the masses. |
