This is album number what? Fifteen? It depends on how you count them. Anyway, Sodom stand tall on their classic works, but they went through a rough patch in the 90s and their output since then has been uneven. The last album of theirs I got into was their re-recording of their early songs on The Final Sign of Evil in 2007, so it's been almost a decade since I liked a Sodom disc.

This is not as vicious as albums like Code Red or Tapping the Vein, but it has better riffs than Sodom have flashed in a long time, backed up by a meaty but clean-edged guitar sound and a lot of grit from Angelripper, getting back to his raspier old style rather than his screamy sound on most of the ?modern' albums. Songs like "Rolling Thunder" and "Blood Lions" will get your head flailing and your fists pumping. One especially nice factor is that nowhere do Sodom try to sound like anything besides Sodom – no melodeath flourishes, no groove or modern-thrash horseshit – this is just a pure, brass-knuckled Thrash album. More than worth your time.
