In Fury is a relatively new (formed in 2013) band from Germany that plays a melodic brand of Death Metal on their self-titled debut album they released independently earlier this year. The vocals are a generic growl (no burps or gargling screams) that should not put off anyone, including those who don't necessarily like extreme singing, but the strength of In Fury is in the guitar work. The tone is excellent and there are some really nice riffs throughout the album. The solos are subtle and don't seek to overpower the rest of the song and the use of acoustic guitar on tracks like "The Wheel" works very well. The songwriting is average and all 13 songs on In Fury sound pretty much like the others to my ears, but maybe a Death Metal aficionado will pick up more distinctions. Either way, this is a solid debut from In Fury, a band with some potentially wide appeal across genres. |
