Old school, no-frills Heavy Metal is the name of the game here. Headless Crown make an attempt at melodic, somewhat anthemic metal here and while the basic ingredients are there, for the most part it kind of falls flat though the album is still listenable and does have its good moments. This just happens to be a style done much better by known bands and there isn't enough here for Headless Crown to stick out enough to be noticed. Still, it's easy to see that the band has potential and just need to up their game a little. Decent vocals, some cool guitar work and crunchy metal salvage this, and I'm sure this material kills live if the band can deliver the goods in public. This is a band I'll be keeping an eye out for. |
