Another contestant from the "lesser-known" category, Diavolos bring us some speedy blackened Death/Thrash. They have most of what you'd expect for the genre and they mostly do it right, with some passages – I won't go as far as saying entire songs – sticking in your head when it's all over. Grim, haunted raspy vocals lead the onslaught here and are the constant in the band's sound, which goes from slower, melodic passages to pedal-to-the-metal high speed playing that will wreck your neck if you try to keep up. It's not the greatest thing you've ever heard and, at this point, this stuff has been done to death, but in the end You Lived, Now Die is a good listen from beginning to end. |
