All the filthy hordes or hell... Now rejoice, and spread your satanic, black-blooded gospels among all the weak Christians! Your satanic majesty. So, is a dangerously sounding music killing people? Don't know about that, but to be honest this bunch from Down Under does sound dangerous, in its own good way. Ur Draugr as a name sounds like some evil, flesh-craving orc, living somewhere in the murky land of Middle-earth, but at least this band manages to live up to its name, sounding totally wicked, grim and merciless, ready to conquer lands by their sheer evilness. Ur Draugr's fusion between two extreme subgenres - Black and Death Metal, has lots of pure, undivided charisma to it and they have this ability to create strong, unorthodox and absolutely deranged, dark atmospheres within their songs, which is always a good sign. Also, when it comes to originality, they have so much of it in their songs that they could give some of it away for the ones that tend to struggle with this part. They built up their extreme Metal on the Black and Death Metal foundation, but stretch this concept further by going into an insanely unorthodox, even avant-garde-oozing direction more often than what doctor ordered. It's hard to pinpoint Ur Draugr's exact stylings and compare them to other bands, so I'll stop even trying right here. Anyways, this band needs to be heard in order to form your own clear (or unclear?) opinion about them. Keep the flame alive for this Australian unholy trinity! |
