This band's name would make you believe that this is super-duper-uber-brutal death metal. Well, it's not. It's more akin to a slightly more extreme Gothenburg-style melodic death metal done right, with quite a healthy dose of melody and with lots of elements straight out of the thrash and plain heavy metal rule books. There are some catchy guitar solos here that could very well fit on an 80s heavy metal album, including a short one that sounds heavily inspired by Randy Rhoads. The vocals are your average death growls; more or less decipherable and steering clear of annoying styles such as pig squeals and the likes. The vocalist does a good job of diversifying the vocals, avoiding the trap of monotone, repetitive growling. Satanic Corpse makes me want to like melodic death metal again. |
