Released a scant year after Abstract Reality, Penetration Point was the third full-length from Florida Thrash pioneers Nasty Savage, and it saw them pushing themselves even further to make their most technical and complex album to date, which is really saying something considering what came before it. Comparisons can be made to similar Technical Thrash acts like Anacrusis, Realm, and Watchtower but, really, Nasty Savage had a sound all their own and never made the mistake of being complex for its own sake. That said, this is easily their most inaccessible album to date, taking every strange nuance and excess the band had shown over the years and pushing them to their absolute limits, all while never losing track of where their compositions were going.

Songs like "Welcome Wagon", "Ritual Submission" and "Powerslam" see the band doing what they do best but with even more intricacy and professionalism than before, but it's the instrumental "Horizetical" that really catches my attention here. It's easily the most complex song they ever wrote, even showing signs of leaving the realms of Tech Thrash and more into something like early Atheist, only that's not fair because Nasty Savage predates them. I think it highlights how deceptively versatile and adventurous the band really was, though I can understand it being too much for some.

Overall, Penetration Point is a significant release that serves as both the logical conclusion to their older sound and as an example of why Nasty Savage became legends of Tech Thrash to begin with. Mandatory.
