U.D.O.'s output has been pretty solid over the years, though some albums were not quite up to par—decent but not much more. No Limits is arguably one of the band's best albums. By now the band has more than established its identity, of course with the mandatory Accept vibe but really just crunchy heavy metal with very strong melodies, something that the band excels at. The album is filled with catchy rockers that get the foot tapping and the air guitars going. The vocal melodies are even more infectious, whether it's the fast-paced numbers or the slower power ballads—lots of singalong material that's guaranteed to stick in your head. There are a few passages that feel a bit off here and there, but all the songs here are strong in their own rights. There's a cover of AC/DC's "The Rebel" before the slow, melodic closer "Azrael," which makes for a peculiar end to the album (not in a bad way, just peculiar). Those who know U.D.O. likely already own this; for the others, if you like heavy, catchy, melodic, crunchy heavy metal in the '80s vein but with a slightly more modern approach, this is one to get.
