This is a black metal band that plays it fast, violent and melodic, much like a lot of black metal bands have been doing since the early 2000s, taking the mid to late-90s second-wave stuff and polishing it. That's a good recipe, but the result is a little bland. The songs lack personality and I found it easy to kind of forget that the album is playing. Needless to say, it doesn't leave much of a lasting impression. There are nonetheless some really cool passages all over the place, but it's like nothing really comes together and the album never takes off. It's not a bad album, it's just... "there." With that said, I hear a lot of potential here and I hope the band can come up with something less derivative and more compelling in the future.
