Here's a little blackened thrash from Japan and when I say, "a little," I mean "a little". This four-song demo from Tokyo's Evil runs just under seven minutes total and not one song exceeds two minutes. It is over before you know it. The spot-on cover of Sarcofago's "Desecration of Virgin" essentially tells the story of what to expect from The Gate of Hell; maniacal riffing and tortured vocals hung on the barest vestige of a melody. Evil is basically aping the flailing brutality of Sarcofago but they do it well enough. The Gate of Hell isn't essential but if it is on, you'll likely end up with a sore neck. |
