Dark and heavy, punishing blackened death metal is what Israel's Ziggurat offer on Ritual Miasma. There are two things that shined here and they go hand in hand: the absolutely hellish, dark and malevolent atmosphere and the matching deep death growls that sound like they come straight from the depths of hell. Musically this is rather standard, but well-executed black/death with a good balance of fast and slower paces and the somewhat muddy sound strangely works well here. I'd usually complain about it, but in this case it's a perfect match to the aforementioned atmosphere and vocals. Evil as fuck and guaranteed to make those pesky neighbours move far away. |
