Dying Victims Productions has been rather busy in 2020 and this one is a physical re-release of the debut digital EP by Sweden's Zatyr. Musically, Zatyr are a loud, bombastic band that employs big riffs with gravelly, echo-enhanced vocals and a dark vibe. Ornament of Proposition contains four tracks (one more than the original digital release) of thunderous metal that sounds fine but don't possess much individuality and it is a bit difficult to tell when one song has stopped and the next has started if you aren't actively paying attention. At this early stage of their career, Zatyr's performances have competence but lack the charisma to grab the listener. They have a foundation and I'll be interested to see what they build on it. |
